Uniting for the Return - Support The Fifth Annual International Al-Awda Convention

Al-Awda, The Palestine Right to Return Coalition, is pleased to announce that its landmark Fifth Annual International Convention will take place in Embassy Suites Hotel - Anaheim South, Garden Grove, CA May 25-27, 2007.

The date commemorates the Nakba, the 59th year since the “State of Israel” was declared on stolen Palestinian land, resulting in the Zionist occupation of all of Palestine.

The theme, Uniting for the Return, will address the next phase of our struggle in the shataat (exile).

The primary objective of the convention will be to continue the development of campaigns to achieve the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their original homes, towns and villages in occupied Palestine.

In the past year, we have made another significant leap forward, with the active participation of our Palestinian and Arab communities in the Right to Return movement.

The building of our youth groups is a source of great pride, assuring the continuing development of activists and leadership for our struggle.

Among other successful efforts are our media and film work, and refugee support.

This convention will seek to develop and strengthen these and other programs while aiming to further advance participation.

Preparation for this convention began on December 2nd, 2006 at Al-Awda’s West Coast Regional Conference with the participation of our chapters in San Diego, Riverside and Los Angeles/Orange County. Along with a number of sister Palestinian, Arab and other community-based organizations: PAWA, FPA, NCA, MSA at Palomar College and UCSD, SJP at UCSD, UCLA and UCR, significant progress has already been made, and new organizations are in the process of joining in.
