Gaza: Breaking Down Borders
Until Return Reporter from Jordan
February 25, 2008

After Palestinians broke down the wall at the border between Gaza and Egypt Palestinians rushed across into Egypt. Thousands of cement bags were bought at a price of 27 Egyptian pounds. Since the seige of Gaza began, the price had reached 150 shekels. it was reported that these large amounts were bought because Gazans were not able to properly bury their dead.
It was also noted that they bought a huge amount of clothing since the stores in Gaza ran out of merchandise as a result of the 8 months blockage. The merchants sent lorries to Egypt to load for basic food supplies, and medicine.

Families moved through the border to shop for food supplies and their basic needs, while the families that were stuck in Egypt for months finally had the opportunity to go back carrying only their bags that they had prepared for months and rushed to the border with their family and friends welcoming them home.
