Boycott Motion for Re-Vote in Norwegian Soer-Troendelag District Council
(Please act before the end of 7th of March)
Dear friends,
The regional council of Soer Troendelag in Norway passed in December
2005 a motion calling for a comprehensive boycott on Israeli goods to be
followed up with an awareness raising campaign across the region. The
councils decision has been strongly opposed by the Norwegian Minster of
Foreign Affairs.
As a consequence, the chairman of the district council, Tore Sandvik (Labour) has decided that case should be reevaluated on the district council meeting the first coming Tuesday March 7. We do not know of cases where such a re-vote has been conducted in all the district council's history. Furthermore, the central committee of the Labour party has summoned all its representatives in the council and are pressuring the ones that supported the motion to vote against it in the upcoming session. Odds for a new pro-boycott vote are not good.
We ask you to assist us to convince the representatives to uphold their previous vote. Please consider writing to the candidates urging them to uphold the councils decision before March 7. You can send an emails to postmottak@stfk.no and ask that the email be distributed to all the representatives in Soer Troendelag Fylkesting.
Some Labour representatives that voted pro-boycott have own
email-addresses:
Olav Huseby olav.huseby@stfk.no
Berit Kapelrud bkapelru@online.no
Knut Sundet knut@aanf.no
Hans Wendelbo hans.wendelbo@roros.vgs.no
Feel free to circulate this.
Best regards,
